New Chief of Staff of the Directorate Division

"I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Patrick Tschudin, a highly skilled professional who is widely recognised within ENSI, as Chief of Staff of the Directorate Division", says ENSI Board Chair Andreas Abegg. "He works with care and circumspection and has the ability to take different perspectives on board and develop sound solutions."

As Chief of Staff of the Directorate Division Patrick Tschudin will join the ENSI Executive Board. In his current role as Head of the Legal Section, he has acquired in-depth knowledge of ENSI's legal, regulatory and organisational framework, and is ideally suited to act as the key link between the Executive Board and the ENSI Board.

Thanks to his structured and thoughtful approach, Patrick Tschudin is able to assess complex issues from different angles, take various interests into account and effectively support inter-departmental collaboration. As Chief of Staff, he will play a key role in coordinating and supporting the Executive Board.

Patrick Tschudin succeeds Andreas Schefer, who is stepping down from this management role at his own request, but will continue to work for ENSI as a senior expert, taking on special assignments on behalf of the Directorate. The ENSI Board would like to thank Andreas Schefer for his many years of service as a valued and dedicated member of the Executive Board and wishes him every success in his new role. "Andreas Schefer has shaped ENSI for many years now with his level-headed and dependable style. He provided continuity and played a key role in shaping the institutional development of ENSI," says Andreas Abegg, Chairman of the ENSI Board.

With this succession plan, the ENSI Board created a degree of continuity in a key management role within the organisation.

ENSI is the Swiss authority responsible for the nuclear safety and security of Swiss nuclear facilities. Pursuant to the ENSI Act, members of the Executive Board are appointed by the ENSI Board, which is ENSI's strategic and internal supervisory body.
