Greetings to participants of 12th St Petersburg International Legal Forum

The message reads, in part:

"Thanks to the busy agenda and wide representation, your meetings have become significant public events. During substantive discussions, renowned legal scholars, experts and practicing lawyers exchange expertise, discuss legislative innovations and initiatives, and expand professional contacts.

Russia has always defended the principle of the rule of law both in domestic life and in the international arena. I believe that in the current environment, we should build on generally accepted legal norms that serve as the solid foundation for strengthening global stability and protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, as well as human and civil rights and freedoms. The key role of law is undeniable in solving global and regional problems, developing economic and humanitarian ties and, of course, in combating common threats.

This year, Russia presides over BIRCS. Together with our partners, we strive to develop effective legal regulations that can enhance food and energy security, contribute to the preservation of the environment and climate, and establish fair rules for global trade and technological cooperation. We are ready to promote cooperation in these spheres with other countries, above all those in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and Latin America.

I am confident that the proposals, recommendations, and ideas put forward by the forum participants will be valuable in practice."
