Undergraduate students invited to apply to the McNair Scholars Program

The McNair Scholars Program invites undergraduate students to apply for the AY26-27 cohort. The program's goal is to increase the attainment of doctoral and master's degrees among first-generation college students and students from limited-income backgrounds. Please review the McNair Scholars Program website, application and FAQs or contact Director Sunny Mall with your questions or to schedule an appointment to talk further.

Our application deadline is March 31, 2026, with priority consideration and early decision notifications by April 15, 2026. While we formally recruit scholars every spring, we invite all undergraduate students interested in graduate school to contact our program at any time during the academic year to explore a variety of opportunities that can enhance their academic and professional journeys, including pre-McNair opportunities!

Below are just a few of the valuable opportunities available through McNair:

  • Funding to assist your research, scholarly and creative activities.
  • Funding to present your scholarly work at national conferences and attend graduate school fairs.
  • Learning the best strategies to finance your education and life goals.
  • Applying to and maximizing your funding for graduate school.
  • Networking with other scholars interested in research and other scholarly activities.

Unsure about applying yet interested in research, scholarly or other creative activities? Please contact Director Sunny Mall or complete our Pre-Application Form. The McNair Scholars Program looks forward to assisting you in finding educational and career paths that best fit your individual dreams.

Thank you,

Alison "Sunny" Mall, Ph.D.
