Police charge man in child pornography investigation

Police have charged a Halifax man for possession of child pornography.

In 2025, investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation Unit received information that a person in Halifax was saving images depicting child pornography in a cloud-based storage file.

As part of the investigation, a search was conducted at an address in Halifax yesterday. Electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis and the suspect was arrested.

David Mark Laing, 70, appeared in Halifax provincial court yesterday to face one count of possession of child pornography. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on child pornography is asked to file a report by calling police at 902-490-5020 or by using Cybertip, Canada's National Tip Line for reporting online sexual exploitation of children, at https://www.cybertip.ca.
