Larson Votes to End Trump’s Illegal War in Iran

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for another war powers resolution to end Trump's illegal war in Iran-marking the second time the House of Representatives has passed legislation opposing this war. Today's vote follows Larson's announcement that he is preparing legal actionagainst the Trump Administration and will be introducing legislation to cut off funding for the unauthorized war in Iran. Larson also filed articles of impeachment against President Trump and U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth for waging war in Iran in direct contravention of the United States Constitution and international law. 

"For five months, President Trump has waged an unauthorized, illegal war against Iran," said Larson. "Eighteen U.S. servicemembers have now lost their lives and more than 100 have been injured. At home, working families are being squeezed by skyrocketing energy prices due to this reckless war. It is time to end it now. I was proud to vote today to end the war in Iran. Any Republican failing to call on President Trump to come before Congress is complicit in a lie to the American people that our nation is not at war-in direct violation of the United States Constitution. Enough is enough."

Larson has consistently led congressional efforts to end the unauthorized war, voting repeatedly to require the withdrawal of U.S. forces, introducing articles of impeachment against President Trump for violating the Constitution, and now preparing both legal action and legislation to cut off funding for the conflict. 

In January, Larson voted to withdraw U.S. forces from hostilities with Venezuela after Trump authorized operations there without prior Congressional approval. Larson also voted against the Iraq War in 2002.
