Morocco to Host 2nd Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping in Francophone Environment

Tuesday 19 May 2026
Morocco will host on Wednesday in Rabat the 2nd Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping in a Francophone Environment.

The conference will be co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Mr. Nasser Bourita and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot.

Organized in partnership with the UN and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), the event will bring together 62 delegations, including 26 represented at ministerial level, alongside senior UN and OIF officials, regional organizations, and civilian and military experts involved in peacekeeping operations.

Held amid evolving challenges facing UN peacekeeping missions and ongoing reforms related to peacekeeping and peacebuilding architecture, the conference aims to provide Francophone countries with an additional platform to develop a shared understanding of current peacekeeping issues.

Hosting this international conference in Morocco reflects recognition of the Kingdom's longstanding and pioneering contribution to UN peacekeeping operations worldwide.

It also highlights the credibility and trust Morocco enjoys within international bodies as a committed and unifying actor in major multilateral issues.

This second edition follows the first Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping in a Francophone Environment held in Paris in 2016.
