Through a new partnership, King's is equipping students studying Artificial Intelligence with access to an exclusive AI platform. The tools and services, provided by Mistral AI, will enable students to customise and deploy their own generative AI models for coding, writing and problem-solving.
The Department for Informatics, which offers undergraduate and postgraduate studies in AI, has partnered with Mistral AI, Europe's leading AI lab for cutting-edge products and services with a commitment to open source, responsible AI development.
The partnership will see students and academics access Mistral AI's GenAI service, Le Chat, along with developer and experimental use of its state-of-the-art large language models, hosted on La Plateforme, to create custom AI-driven applications. Students will be able to test what they are learning in class using Mistral AI's advanced models, including accessing support from Mistral AI's solutions engineering team, and hearing about important advances in the field.
Providing access to world-leading tools and AI capabilities ensures our graduates are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow."
Professor Elena Simperl, Co-Director of King's Institute for Artificial IntelligenceMistral AI's tools and models will also support students who undertake Knowledge Exchange Projects as part of their degree. The scheme sees students tackle challenges for companies and public sector institutions, and through Mistral AI software, the students will be able to use new and advanced AI tools to explore solutions as part of their projects.
For researchers, the partnership will provide a suite of new tools and models, as well as fostering new connections and areas of collaboration between King's and the R&D teams at Mistral AI.
Mistral AI will support talks and webinars at King's on the rapidly evolving AI sector, providing first-hand experience of frontier AI developments, and dissecting real-world examples of how the technology is impacting the world of work, research and study.
This collaboration will lead to knowledge-sharing and research opportunities with one of the best AI training programmes in Europe."
Audrey Herblin-Stoop, VP Public Affairs and Communications at Mistral AIProfessor Elena Simperl, Co-Director of King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence, said "Providing access to world-leading tools and AI capabilities ensures our graduates are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow, helps us discover new AI-assisted research practices, and supports the responsible use of AI across the University.
"Universities must be inclusive in how they approach technology - ensuring everyone, not just those with the means or technical background, can benefit from cutting-edge innovation. We're proud to partner with Mistral AI, whose commitment to open source and responsible development aligns with our values and ambitions."
Audrey Herblin-Stoop, VP Public Affairs and Communications at Mistral AI said, "We are proud to partner with King's College London and to empower the next generation of AI builders with our open and frontier AI solutions.
"For Mistral AI, this collaboration will also lead to knowledge-sharing and research opportunities with one of the best AI training programmes in Europe."
