On 11 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, delivered a policy speech entitled "Navigating Thailand in an Era of Regional Transformation" at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS). The event was attended by a large audience of international students, members of the media, and Japanese academics.

During his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister shared his vision for Thailand's forward-looking foreign policy amid a rapidly evolving global landscape and the gradual decline of the rules-based international order. He underscored Thailand's commitment to upholding international law and strengthening regional cooperation to address emerging challenges, including transnational crime and technological competition amid majorpower rivalry. As a middle power, Thailand stands ready to work closely with Japan to help maintain strategic balance in the Indo-Pacific and advance peace, stability, and prosperity throughout the region.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister held discussions with Ms. Ota Hiroko, President of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), together with the institute's senior management. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing Thailand-Japan educational cooperation, particularly in the fields of international relations and foreign policy.
