Hagerty Introduces Jonathan Greenstein, Trump’s Nominee to be Deputy Under Secretary of the Treasury

Greenstein served as Hagerty's First Senior Economic Policy Advisor in the Senate

WASHINGTON-Wednesday, United States Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) introduced Jonathan Greenstein, President Donald Trump's nominee to be Deputy Under Secretary of the Treasury, at the Senate Finance Committee confirmation hearing.

Remarks as prepared for delivery:

I'd like to introduce my friend, Jonathan Greenstein, who was my very first senior economic policy advisor when I came to the Senate.

In that time, I came to know him as one of my most trusted advisors and someone that I hold in the highest regard.

Before joining my team in the Senate, Jonathan served at the Treasury Department as a Deputy Assistant Secretary during the President's first term. In the private sector, he worked in Goldman Sachs' Investment Banking Division, covering financial institutions. Jonathan also earned a J.D. from Yale and an MBA from Harvard.

Jonathan's service at Treasury and his experience in the private sector have given him a comprehensive understanding of financial institutions and the policies that govern them. In the Senate, he drew on that expertise to provide clear, thoughtful counsel on matters critical to maintaining the strength and competitiveness of our financial system. His perspective proved invaluable as we worked through some of the most complex issues facing our economy.

Jonathan's record demonstrates both capability and commitment. At every stage of his career, including his service at Treasury, his work in the private sector, and his time here in the Senate, he has applied his experience with diligence and sound judgment. That blend of government service, market expertise, and academic accomplishment makes him uniquely prepared for this responsibility.

To ensure the continued strength and competitiveness of our financial system, we need leaders who combine knowledge with experience, and who understand both policy and practice. For this role, there is no one better suited than Jonathan Greenstein.

I urge my colleagues to support his confirmation.
