Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (Interstate 580) Nighttime Closure Westbound Lane #2 and Shoulder/Bike Lane for Maintenance

Scheduled Monday-Wednesday and Thursday, and December 18, 2025 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Through December 2025

Contra Costa County & Marin County - Caltrans will continue nightly maintenance on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (I-580), closing Lane #2 and the shoulder/Bike path on the westbound upper deck nightly Monday through Wednesday with extended bike path closure on Thursday, December 18, 2025, 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM. This closure will span the entire length of the bridge, while westbound Lane #1 will remain open.

Closure Details:

  • Westbound I-580, Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Lane #2 and Bike Lane will be Closed: Monday - Wednesday also Thursday, December 18th, 2025, 7:00 PM to 5:00AM.
  • Shuttle services will be provided at the Stenmark Drive Bridge entrance and at Vista Point in San Rafael for those impacted by the closure.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will alert drivers of closure. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed to 40 mph, and plan extra travel time.
