Moylan Announces FEMA Funding for Guam Schools Damaged by Typhoon Mawar

(Washington, D.C.) - Congressman James Moylan announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated $751,714.97 in federal Public Assistance funding to support repairs at multiple Guam Department of Education (GDOE) facilities damaged by Typhoon Mawar.

The funding, provided under Section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, will help repair building exteriors, interiors, exterior sites, contents, and other damaged components at six GDOE facilities. The combined value of the approved projects is $835,238.81, with FEMA covering 90 percent of eligible costs.

The funding has been obligated to the Government of Guam for eligible Guam Department of Education projects, and GovGuam will administer the reimbursement process in accordance with FEMA requirements.

While welcoming this latest FEMA funding announcement, Congressman Moylan emphasized that his office remains focused on supporting Guam's ongoing recovery from Typhoons Bavi and Sinlaku. Since the storms, he has been working closely with FEMA and other federal partners to advocate for additional assistance and address the needs of residents who are still awaiting relief.

"As Guam continues recovering from consecutive storms, every federal investment in our recovery is critical," said Congressman Moylan. "Today's announcement is another important step toward rebuilding our communities and ensuring our schools remain safe, resilient, and ready to serve our students. At the same time, I recognize that many families impacted by Typhoons Bavi and Sinlaku are still waiting for assistance.
