Man Charged with Criminal Sexual Assault
September 22, 2025, Peoria, IL - Last week, Eddie Blakes, 52, was charged with Criminal Sexual Assault in connection with the sexual assault of a 16-year-old female earlier this year. At his detention hearing today, the state's Petition to Detain Blakes was granted, meaning he will remain in custody until his trial.
On January 9, 2025, police spoke with the victim, who reported that she had run away from home the day prior. She told officers that an unknown male had picked her up, and a second unknown male joined them, and they drove to a residence in Peoria. Once there, the two men sexually assaulted her. The victim reported that a third man then arrived and also sexually assaulted her.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where a sexual assault kit was performed. The DNA collected matched Blake's.
Blakes was arrested on September 18, 2025. During police questioning, he admitted to being at the home and seeing the two other men with the victim, but denied having any contact with her.
