Westinghouse eVinci™ Microreactor Selected for U.S. Army Janus Project

Program accelerates deployment of advanced nuclear energy for national security

Cranberry Township, PA, August 26, 2026 - Westinghouse Government Services (WGS) announces that the eVinci™ microreactor has been selected by the U.S. Department of the Army for the next phase of the Janus Program.

As the Army's next-generation nuclear power initiative, the Janus Program is supported by the Department of War Innovation Unit (DIU) to accelerate advanced microreactor technologies that can deliver secure, resilient and reliable energy to support mission requirements at national defense installations. The Army's selection is a key milestone in accelerating the use of advanced energy solutions for critical defense missions.

Under the Janus Program, selected vendors are expected to be paired with one of nine military installations currently under consideration for microreactor technologies.

"The Janus Program vendors were selected through a deeply rigorous evaluation on technical, financial, and organizational capabilities conducted by an All-Star panel of dozens of experts from across the nation. We look forward to working alongside each team as they proceed toward successfully completing the rigorous technical milestones we've agreed upon."

The eVinci microreactor builds on decades of industry-leading Westinghouse innovation to deliver flexible and resilient energy for defense applications. The heat-pipe reactor is designed to provide resilient electricity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for eight years without refueling.
