Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Thailand Anutin Charnvirakul is in Singapore for an Official Visit.
Prime Minister Anutin received a ceremonial welcome this morning. Prime Minister Anutin had a delegation meeting with Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, who also hosted an Official Lunch in honour of Prime Minister Anutin. Both Leaders reaffirmed the strong bilateral partnership as Singapore and Thailand commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. They welcomed the significant progress in forward-looking areas of collaboration, including carbon credits and food security. They discussed ways to jointly tackle the common challenges both countries face, such as the implications of an ageing population and combatting online scams. They agreed that both countries should continue to deepen bilateral and regional cooperation in the digital and green economies, including on renewable energy, and work together to build a greener and more interconnected ASEAN. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Prime Minister Wong and Prime Minister Anutin also witnessed the exchange of two agreements in the areas of food security and healthcare.
Prime Minister Anutin called on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. During the meeting, they discussed the multi-faceted partnership between Singapore and Thailand, anchored by mutual trust and robust people-to-people ties. President Tharman and Prime Minister Anutin noted the strong partnership and complementary nature of the two economies, and the potential for new areas of collaboration, such as in the energy, sustainability and technology sectors. They also discussed the importance of advancing regional cooperation in an increasingly complex global environment.
Prime Minister Anutin visited the National Orchid Garden where a new orchid hybrid, the Vanchoanthe Anutin Thananon Charnvirakul, was named in his honour.
