Wooten Road south of Galley Road to close Aug. 10 for culvert improvements

Starting Monday, Aug. 10, Wooten Road south of Galley Road will close at the intersection for several months as crews begin the next phase of the Wooten Road and Galley Road Culvert Improvements project.

A signed detour will direct motorists to Geiger Boulevard and Babcock Road around the closure. Access to businesses will remain available from the south side of the closure.

The closure marks the start of the second phase of the drainage improvement project at the Wooten Road and Galley Road intersection. Wooten Road north of Galley Road is expected to reopen on Aug. 10, completing the first phase of construction. During the next phase, traffic on Galley Road will shift to the north side of the roadway and onto the newly reconstructed culvert.

The project will rehabilitate and extend the aging box culvert beneath the intersection, improve drainage, and enhance pedestrian accessibility with upgraded sidewalks, curb ramps and crosswalks.

Construction is expected to be completed in late 2026. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules and project phasing are subject to change.

The detour route may be adjusted as needed to accommodate work associated with the adjacent Colorado Springs Utilities Galley Road Water Main Improvement Project near Babcock Road.
