Fairfield enhances BUILD Portal to improve online development

The City of Fairfield has announced a series of enhancements to its Fairfield BUILD Portal, designed to improve the user-experience and streamline access to online development services. These updates support the City Council's Organizational Excellence goal by making digital services more intuitive, efficient, and accessible for the public.

A key feature of the update is the introduction of a Decision Engine, developed in collaboration with City subject matter experts. This interactive tool guides users through a short series of questions and helps direct them to the appropriate permit or application type based on their project needs, reducing confusion and improving first-time accuracy.

Additional improvements include a new Helpful Links section added to the portal navigation bar, providing quick access to related Community Development resources and reference materials.

The City has also added new shortcut cards on the BUILD Portal homepage, including:

• Public Records Request - Direct access to the City's Public Records Request page
• Additional Information - Access to Community Development BUILD guides and supporting documentation

The BUILD Portal continues to evolve based on customer needs and staff collaboration. These updates reflect our commitment to continuous improvement by simplifying navigation, increasing access to information, and providing more efficient digital services.
