SACRAMENTO, CA - Assembly Budget Chair Jesse Gabriel and Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas issued the following statements in response to Governor Gavin Newsom's May Revision budget proposal:
"We look forward to carefully reviewing the Governor's May Revision budget proposal and working with the Administration and our Senate partners to deliver an on-time, balanced budget. As we highlighted last week, Assembly Democrats will continue to fight for a balanced approach that prioritizes both compassion and fiscal responsibility so that we can protect the essential programs and services that working families and our most vulnerable communities rely on." -Assembly Budget Chair Jesse Gabriel
"As Trump's failures continue to create real economic harm for California families, we must safeguard health care and food assistance, advance housing affordability, and manage every taxpayer dollar with discipline - including a more robust rainy day fund and no new major ongoing spending commitments. We're encouraged by the common ground with the Governor and Senate, and look forward to delivering a budget Californians can count on." -Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas
