Delivery Hero teams up with key partners to pledge over 100 million meals in global fight against hunger

Berlin, October 15, 2025 - Delivery Hero, the world's leading local delivery company, has announced its most ambitious commitment yet in the fight against global hunger. Working with the UN World Food Programme (WFP), The Global Foodbanking Network (GFN), and other charity partners, Delivery Hero will help facilitate the donation of 111 million meals this year.

The announcement comes as Delivery Hero marks World Food Day - a moment to reflect on the urgent need for collective action for food security. In the spirit of this year's theme "Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future," Delivery Hero is uniting its global network of local brands including PedidosYa, Glovo, foodora, foodpanda, talabat, Woowa, efood and Yemeksepeti, alongside hundreds of local organizations to reach its ambitious donation goal.

According to the Global Report on Food Crises 2025, hunger grew for the sixth consecutive year in 2024, with more than 295 million people across 53 countries facing acute levels of hunger, an increase of almost 14 million people compared to 2023.

Digital Donations

One of the most impactful ways in which Delivery Hero brands and platforms help to fight hunger is through meal donations. This year's meal donation goal looks to build on the momentum of 2024, when Delivery Hero aided in the donation of approximately 15 million meals, an increase of over 50% compared to 2023.

Digital donation features, available across most of Delivery Hero's brands, enable customers to donate directly through the platform. These donations are then directed onto partners working to tackle food insecurity.

For example, Delivery Hero is partnering with The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN), which supports food banks in more than 50 countries. Delivery Hero is connecting their platforms and communities with food banks around the world to ensure surplus food feeds people, not the landfill.

An additional part of the meal donation effort is Delivery Hero's partnership with The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). The success of this collaboration centers around the integration of various Delivery Hero brands across multiple global markets with ShareTheMeal, WFP's award-winning fundraising application.

Using technology for good

In addition to facilitating meal donations, food waste reduction represents another critical focus. Harnessing technology to better monitor and continuously improve food rescue efforts is at the heart of Delivery Hero's strategy. Examples of technology-led initiatives across the Delivery Hero group include:

  • Advanced forecasting tools are enabling better purchasing decisions, helping to reduce excess stock, and prevent food waste before it happens.
  • Expansion of food rescue programs continues, with local food banks and nonprofit organizations supporting surplus food redistribution efforts.
  • PedidosYa has launched a real-time tracking system to monitor food donations, making it easier to coordinate with food banks and improve efficiency.
  • PedidosYa Dmarts became the first zero food waste supermarket in Latin America, powered by these structured food donation processes and digital tracking tools.
  • Glovo, through its social impact platform Glovo Access, is using technology to provide last-mile logistics for essential goods, delivering 7 million meals to those in need in 2024.

Beyond operational efforts, Delivery Hero works with over 500 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and non-profits worldwide, supporting them in their mission by providing resources, technical capabilities and know-how. Partners are able to leverage Delivery Hero's infrastructure to reach their desired segment, collaborate on campaign design and execution, and amplify their reach, ultimately getting more food to people in need.
