UC Strives for Agreement with CNA, Focuses on Continued Patient Care During Strike

Despite extensive efforts and meaningful compromise, the University of California and the California Nurses Association were unable to reach an agreement before CNA's planned sympathy strike on Monday, Nov. 17, and Tuesday, Nov. 18, across the UC system.

Amid a time of unprecedented financial uncertainty, the University presented generous proposals aimed at directly addressing CNA's stated priorities. We are disappointed that an agreement could not be achieved.

During the strike, the University has comprehensive plans in place to ensure that patient care continues safely and without interruption.

Following the sympathy strike, UC and CNA will resume negotiations for a successor contract. We look forward to refocusing on what matters most: supporting our nurses and upholding the highest standards of patient care.
