Montgomery Interpretive Center to Host “Seven Sisters, Still, Sowing Seeds” Event

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail will host a free event on Oct. 13 entitled "Seven Sisters, Still, Sowing Seeds," featuring seven women involved in the civil rights movement: Rev. Dr. Viola B. Bradford, Ms. Doris Crenshaw, Ms. Meta Graetz Ellis, Dr. Valda Harris Montgomery, Ms. Martha Morgan, Esq., Mrs. Faya Ora Rose Touré, Esq., and Mrs. Sheyann Webb-Christburg.
The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail commemorates the people, events and route of the 1965 Voting Rights March in Alabama, which was one of many demonstrations in the civil rights movement.
During the program, all seven women will share their experiences growing up in the 1960s and 1970s during the civil rights movement and discuss their work as civil rights activists striving to create a more just future.
In addition to the conversation, the event will offer college students opportunities to match with one of these accomplished women to learn more about community outreach work and gain hands-on experience in this field.
The event begins at 11 a.m. in the gallery space of the Montgomery Interpretive Center, located on Alabama State University campus at 1521 Harris Way, Montgomery, AL 36106.
