With access to Claude for Education, Google Gemini, PittGPT and more, Pitt students are spoiled for choice with access to generative AI platforms. But these newer offerings are just one portion of a substantial toolbox of software and technology that comes free with your tuition.
Whether you're looking for specialized software for your courses, digital newspaper archives or even 3D printers, Pitt's got you covered.
Software galore
Pitt Digital provides a variety of programs to students via agreement with vendors. Microsoft Office 365 allows the use of the full Microsoft Office suite; Adobe Creative Cloud offers access to Illustrator, Photoshop and other design tools; and Microsoft OneDrive gives students cloud storage for files.
A plethora of available programs allow students to accomplish more specific tasks: Create interactive maps with ArcGIS, analyze data with MATLAB, build 3D models with AutoCAD or design molecules with Scigress.
Need something else? Visit the student computing labs for more than 150 pieces of software for coursework covering just about anything you can imagine doing on a computer, from writing musical scores to simulating psychology experiments. That doesn't just go for students on campus - the same tools are available through the Virtual Student Computing Lab.

Learning through LinkedIn
If classwork just isn't enough for you, LinkedIn Learning at Pitt provides unlimited access to more than 24,000 courses in more than 20 languages, all free with a pitt.edu email.
Check out Pitt Digital's collection of training courses for commonly used software to learn how to make the best use of that Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, for instance. Or learn leadership and coding skills, print and web design techniques, or audio and video editing.

Any article you can imagine
Academic work sometimes means digging through an archive to find a specific news story, book, journal article or other resource - to meet that need, Pitt's University Library System offers access to 736 different databases at the time of this writing.
Collections like Academic Search Premier or JSTOR contain huge collections of digital resources, while some of the hundreds of other entries in the list offer deep dives on more niche topics, whether it's databases of health polls, archives of Soviet newspapers or collections of children's literature.
Tech IRL
In addition to software and online resources, your tuition also grants access to some cutting-edge spaces where you can experiment with creative technologies.
