In 2022, Airbnb launched the Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition (TSAC), a formal group of external subject matter experts who support our efforts to keep community safety at the forefront of our work.
Three years in, the TSAC's 20+ members-who specialize in global health policy, human trafficking prevention, law enforcement engagement, fraud detection, public safety and more-continue to support Airbnb in creating policies, products and educational resources that prioritize the wellbeing of our hosts and guests.
Since its founding, TSAC partners have supported over 80 trust and safety initiatives, and in 2025 are on track to double the number of supported initiatives compared to 2024.
Some of our shared achievements include:
This summer, we launched an in-app water safety feature that amplifies tips developed by Safe Kids Worldwide to educate guests traveling to listings with pools or near water. The feature provides guests with water safety tips and prompts suggested questions they can ask their host about the listing's water safety protections and considerations.
Supporting host education remains a core value of the TSAC, with continued efforts to develop resources to prepare hosts to welcome guests responsibly. So far this year, we worked with Safe Kids Worldwide to develop and deliver educational sessions on water safety for 250+ hosts in Florida, and partnered with the International Association of Fire Chiefs to promote fire and carbon monoxide safety for hosts in Massachusetts.
Alongside Polaris, we provided expert-led human trafficking awareness training to hosts ahead of the Big Game in New Orleans. Further, our collaborative work with partners like Protect All Children from Trafficking (PACT) and the International Center for Missing & Exploited Children to help end human trafficking and exploitation was highlighted by the US Chamber of Commerce.
Education for our employees is equally important, and we also partner with the TSAC to help frontline Airbnb team members know the signs of rare instances of concerning behavior so they can appropriately support and act on issues. This year, TSAC partners the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and National Network to End Domestic Violence provided training to members of Airbnb's staff on how to identify and respond to cases of child sexual exploitation and intimate partner violence, respectively. In addition, we worked with Polaris to expand and update our mandatory human trafficking prevention training for all Airbnb employees globally.
Alongside TSAC partners, we've continued to strengthen our law enforcement engagement and relationship building. Working closely with our partners, we've hosted trainings across the globe to educate law enforcement on our dedicated law enforcement portal and share how we can assist with their investigations and work together to promote neighborhood safety.
We're excited to continue to partner with Airbnb to help families get the information and resources they need to support their planning, and to ensure that when they get to their destination, kids are staying safe while having fun.
- Safe Kids Worldwide President Torine Creppy
Airbnb continues to demonstrate what true partnership looks like - grounding safety efforts not just in compliance, but in a real understanding of how trafficking evolves across platforms. Polaris is proud to collaborate on prevention strategies that reflect the complexity of modern exploitation and center survivor-informed solutions. Their commitment to transparency and collaboration strengthens our shared work.
- Polaris Chief Executive Officer Megan Lundstrom
Collaborating closely with experts in trust and safety has led to meaningful improvements across Airbnb - for our hosts, guests, team members, and all the communities we serve. We are grateful for the invaluable partnership of this coalition, and we will continue to deepen our work together as part of our longstanding commitment to and investment in community safety.
- Airbnb Global Head of Operations Tara Bunch
The ongoing progress and positive impact of the TSAC this year underscores the importance of having expertise in community safety at the table and accessible to our teams, and we will continue to strengthen our efforts alongside these valued partners.
