Jordan's grain markets in 2026 have been shaped by regional conflict and disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, uncertainty with Black Sea grain supply, and a sharp rise in world wheat and barley prices. In Jordan, favorable rainfall improved local cereal harvests, including of wheat and barley, and the Government of Jordan (GOJ) expanded its purchases from local farmers. Jordan's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply continued prioritizing maintaining its strategic wheat and barley reserves to bolster the country's food security. Jordan's poultry expansion and feed mill expansion is supporting higher corn consumption. Jordan's Aqaba Port, on the Red Sea, has emerged as a regional gateway for grain trade.
