Participation of Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia in the Signing ceremony and High-Level Conference on the UN Convention against Cybercrime

On October 25-26, in Hanoi (Vietnam), the delegation of the Republic of Armenia, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan, participated in the signing ceremony and high-level conference on the first UN Convention on combating cybercrime - the "UN Convention against Cybercrime," adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2024.

The conference commenced with the signing ceremony of the Convention, which was officially signed by high-level representatives of around 64 states, including the European Union and its 12 member states.

During the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mnatsakan Safaryan delivered remarks, highlighting the significance of the UN Convention and the active engagement of the delegation of the republic of Armenia throughout the negotiation process of its text. During that process, the Armenian side emphasized the importance of including provisions related to the protection of human rights, guarantees and conditions for international cooperation, as well as capacity-building measures. In this context, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs added that the national procedures necessary for the signing of the Convention by the Republic of Armenia are expected to be finalized in the near future. Mnatsakan Safaryan also reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to contributing to international efforts aimed at the institutionalization and effective implementation of the Convention.

In parallel with the plenary session, a series of roundtable discussions and side-events were organized, focusing on a range of topics, including the establishment of effective mechanisms for international cooperation in the practical application of the Convention, the exchange of best international practices, capacity-building and technical assistance for developing countries, as well as the protection of women and children in the online environment and other key issues.
