TFEC's Fund for Women & Girls and Unstoppable You Ministries to Co-Host Free Webinar Focused on Preventing Human Traffic

Community members looking to better understand how to prevent human trafficking and strengthen safety in their communities are invited to attend a free virtual webinar on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Hosted by TFEC's Fund for Women & Girls in partnership with Unstoppable You Ministries, the conversation will focus on practical, prevention focused approaches that move beyond awareness and toward connection.

The webinar, titled Prevention Through Connection, will bring together survivors with lived experience, advocates, law enforcement and community partners from across South Central Pennsylvania to explore how stronger relationships, supportive spaces and coordinated community networks can reduce vulnerability and help prevent exploitation before it begins. The event is supported by WellSpan Health and Highmark Wholecare.

"Human trafficking thrives in isolation," said Jennifer Doyle, president and CEO of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. "TFEC is investing in education like this because prevention starts when people feel seen, supported and connected. By strengthening community awareness and relationships, we can reduce vulnerability, support survivors and help ensure exploitation cannot take root in our region."

That commitment to prevention through education and connection is shared by Unstoppable You Ministries, which works directly with individuals and communities impacted by trafficking.

"Prevention starts long before exploitation occurs," said Jennifer Foxworthy, founder and CEO of Unstoppable You Ministries, "By strengthening connections and understanding risk factors, communities can play a critical role in reducing vulnerability and supporting those who may be at risk."

Human Trafficking Is a Global and Local Issue

Human trafficking is a widespread and often hidden crime. The International Labor Organization estimates that on any given day, 27.6 million people worldwide were experiencing forced labor and or commercial sexual exploitation. While trafficking is a global issue, it also happens locally and often goes unrecognized.

According to the Office of Trafficking in Persons within the U.S. Administration for Children & Families, human trafficking does not require movement. People can be recruited and trafficked within their own communities and even within their own homes. Traffickers often hold positions of trust, including family members, friends, romantic partners, employers or job recruiters.

The Jan. 28 webinar aligns with the national 2026 Human Trafficking Prevention Month theme, which emphasizes prevention through connection. The conversation will focus on listening to and checking in on isolated individuals, creating safe and supportive spaces, strengthening community networks and building futures where exploitation cannot take root.

The event is offered at no cost through the support of TFEC's Fund for Women & Girls and event sponsors WellSpan Health and Highmark Wholecare.

"Unstoppable You Ministries believes collaboration over competition will be the only way we can make a difference in the fight against this horrible nightmare," said Foxworthy, "We must all come together."
