Full Closure for Westbound/Eastbound State Route 4 (SR-4) between Cummings Skyway and San Pablo Avenue in Contra Costa County

WB Full Closure Extended through Tuesday October 7,2025 including,
EB Full closures begin Thursday, October 8, 2025, 7:00 PM to 6 AM each night
Monday-Friday only

Contra Costa County - Caltrans extended the overnight full closure of westbound Route 4 (SR-4) from Cummings Skyway to San Pablo Avenue, has been and scheduled for tonight Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

The overnight full closure of Eastbound State Route 4 (SR-4) from San Pablo Avenue to Cummings Skyway, has rescheduled for Wednesday October 8, 2025 through Friday October 10,2025. Nightly from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The closure is necessary to allow paving crews to complete work in the Cummings Skyway area.

Scheduled 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, each night
Westbound SR-4 including SR4 eastbound/westbound I-80 connector ramp
Closure: Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Eastbound SR-4 San Pablo to Cummings Skyway Full Closure: Wednesday, October 8 through Friday, October 10, 2025.

*Please note this schedule is tentative and subject to change depending on weather conditions and construction progress.

Detour Route for Westbound SR-41

  1. Exit Cummings Skyway Offramp.
  2. Turn right onto Cummings Skyway Road.
  3. Turn left onto the westbound I-80 Onramp.
  4. Exit at the San Pablo Avenue Offramp.

Please follow posted signs and detour routes during the closure periods.

Eastbound SR-4 traffic is not expected to be affected. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time.
