DANVILLE, Pa - Several Geisinger hospitals were ranked among the best in the state in a recent evaluation by Forbes. Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, Geisinger Lewistown Hospital and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center were each rated 5 stars, placing them at the top of the list for Pennsylvania. Out of approximately 5,400 facilities evaluated, only 259 earned the top mark of 5 stars.
The Top Hospitals rating scores acute-care facilities on a scale of 1 to 5 stars based on an assessment of four categories: patient outcomes, hospital best practices, value and patient experience. Forbes gathers data for these categories from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Provider Data Catalog. The categories are weighted at 55%, 20%, 15% and 10%, respectively.
"This recognition is a testament to our care teams and staff, whose dedication to quality, safety and compassionate care makes a meaningful difference for our patients every day," said Jason Mitchell, M.D., executive vice president and chief medical officer for Geisinger. "Their unwavering commitment to excellence plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive exceptional care close to home."
