Senator Anthony M. Bucco's (R-Morris, Passaic) bill to help keep the cost of car and truck maintenance and repairs low for New Jersey drivers and provide commonsense relief to New Jersey auto and truck dealerships was signed into law by Governor Sherrill.
Specifically, the bill gives certain dealerships more flexibility in where their service facilities are located, allowing them to operate more efficiently and better meet customer needs.
"Requiring service departments to be physically attached to a showroom does not provide any meaningful benefit to consumers, but it does create unnecessary challenges for businesses in a state as densely populated as New Jersey," said Sen. Bucco. "Giving dealerships more flexibility to establish service facilities in more practical locations will help reduce unnecessary costs, expand service capacity, and ultimately help keep prices down for customers. It's win-win for everyone."
