Exchange of Congratulatory messages between Nepal-Japan

On the happy occasion of the 70^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan, congratulatory messages have been exchanged today between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Mr Shisir Khanal, in his message to Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan H. E. Mr MOTEGI Toshimitsu, has extended warm greetings and felicitations to the latter and through him to the Government and friendly people of Japan.

Highlighting the longstanding relationship between Nepal and Japan, rooted in history and culture, the Hon. Minister has stated that the two countries have cultivated a time-tested friendship grounded in mutual trust, goodwill, understanding and cooperation. While appreciating the valuable support received from Japan - a trustworthy development partner - in Nepal's development endeavors, he has said that substantial engagements at different levels between the two sides in the areas of trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, tourism, education and culture have been growing steadily. He has also expressed confidence that the enduring multifaceted partnership will be further consolidated and enhanced in the years ahead.

Similarly, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan H. E. Mr MOTEGI Toshimitsu, in his message to the Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, has expressed happiness to celebrate the auspicious occasion marking the 70^th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Nepal diplomatic relations.

He has mentioned that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1956, the two countries have deepened cooperation across a wide range of areas, including economy, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges and forged an amicable relationship. Referring to the opening of the Nagdhunga Tunnel, constructed through Japanese ODA in the form of yen loan, he has said that it would contribute to improving people's lives and stimulating economic activities in Nepal.

While recalling the official visit of the Rt. Hon. President Mr Ramchandra Paudel to Japan in February this year to commemorate the 70^th anniversary of diplomatic relations, he has mentioned that the meeting there between the President of Nepal and Prime Minister of Japan H. E. Ms TAKAICHI Sanae reaffirmed to work together toward further enhancement of bilateral relations.

He has also expressed desire to further promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two countries across a broad range of fields.
