Pedestrian Crossing Change and Traffic Shift Planned for North Euclid Avenue in Pierre

PIERRE, S.D. - The week of Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, the temporary pedestrian crossing at 5^th Street and Euclid Avenue will move back to 4^th Street and Euclid Avenue. Pedestrian signs will also be placed at 4^th Street. Crossing guards will be present when school children are utilizing the intersection.

North of 5^th Street traffic will also shift to a two-way configuration in the newly constructed southbound lanes to accommodate continued construction of the northbound lanes.

Commuters should reduce their speed when traveling through the work zone and be alert for pedestrians, construction workers, and construction equipment.

The prime contractor on this $26.4 million project is Morris Inc. of Fort Pierre, SD. The overall completion date for this multi-year project is Friday, Nov. 20, 2026.
