Rep. Spain Honored for Dedication to Fiscal Responsibility and Affordability

December 5, 2025

State Representative Ryan Spain (R-73rd District), the Deputy House Minority Leader, has been named a 2025 Prairie State Policy Champion by Americans for Prosperity-Illinois (AFP-IL). Spain was recognized for his leadership in advancing policies that foster fiscal responsibility, protect taxpayers and support families in Illinois.

"I'm honored to be recognized for my efforts to rein in wasteful government spending, reduce the tax burden and support Illinois families," said Spain. "For too long, Illinois government has spent beyond its means and perpetually turned to taxpayers to fill the gap. Now more than ever, with the affordability crisis many families are facing, we need to continue fighting for common-sense policies to reduce costs for families in the state of Illinois."

AFP-IL's Prairie State Policy Champion award celebrates lawmakers who demonstrate principled leadership on reining in government spending, easing Illinois' state tax burden, protecting homeschoolers and empowering educational choice in the Land of Lincoln.

"Illinois needs more principled leaders like Rep. Spain in Springfield fighting for Illinois taxpayers and reining in out-of-control government spending," said AFP-Illinois State Director Jason Heffley. "Rep. Spain has consistently prioritized fiscal responsibility over special interests, while also leading on AFP-supported legislation in the Capitol. Rep. Spain is a conservative, common-sense leader, and AFP-Illinois will help educate constituents on his dedication and service to the Land of Lincoln."
