Don't be left out in the cold on National Unclaimed Property Day, Attorney General Todd Rokita tells Hoosiers

2025 set new benchmark with over $88 million returned to Hoosiers; partnership with Colts legend Jeff Saturday drives awareness into 2026

As winter's chill grips Indiana, Attorney General Todd Rokita is calling on Hoosiers to heat things up by searching for unclaimed cash at IndianaUnclaimed.gov - right now, on National Unclaimed Property Day.

"It's fast, free, secure and easy," Attorney General Rokita said. "There's no reason to leave your money sitting unclaimed in a government account. It belongs to you. You might be among the thousands of Hoosiers with cash to be claimed, but you'll never know unless you check."

In 2025, Indiana's Unclaimed Property Division set an all-time record by returning more than $88 million to rightful owners, surpassing previous highs and reuniting Hoosiers with what's theirs. As of early 2026, nearly $1 billion remains unclaimed statewide. 

Unclaimed property is any financial asset with no activity by its owner for an extended period of time. Examples of potential unclaimed property are:  

• Unclaimed wages or commissions     

• Money orders   

• Safe deposit box contents   

• Savings and checking accounts   

• Refunds   

• Overpayments such as: 

• Credit card balances

• Cell phone bills  

Indianapolis Colts legend Jeff Saturday recently teamed up with the Office of the Attorney General to help raise awareness of IndianaUnclaimed.gov.

The former Super Bowl champion and longtime Colt's center serves as spokesperson in ads running on local radio and TV stations as well as across online digital platforms with statewide reach. Hoosiers can access the website by texting JEFF to 46220.
