BUCKEYE, AZ (August 4, 2026): Registration is now open for the Fall 2026 Buckeye Police Citizens Academy. The free course provides community members an inside look at police department operations with a mix of classroom lessons and exercises. Participants learn about procedures for patrol, criminal investigations, K9 teams, traffic investigations, SWAT, code enforcement and more.
Citizens Academy runs eight weeks starting September 2 through October 21. Classes are held every Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.at the Buckeye Police Training Facility located at 8050 S. Shepards Trail. Participants must be able to attend all classes.
To be eligible for this program, candidates must live or work in Buckeye, have no felony arrests and be at least 18 years of age. Following a background check, candidates will be informed whether they will move forward to the academy or be placed on a waitlist.
