Public Meeting, Town of Afton, WY, South Highway 89 Waterline Project
The Town of Afton will conduct a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. local time, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in the Town of Afton Council Chambers, at 416 South Washington Street, Afton, Wyoming. The purpose of the meeting is to allow citizens to review and comment on the South Highway 89 Waterline Project. The project's primary purpose is to replace an aging waterline. The existing line has experienced increasing leaks, and in one area is located under a building. The new line will provide some looping and stabilize line pressures.
At the meeting, the Town of Afton will present the preliminary design of the proposed project and will discuss the estimated cost of the improvements and the plan for funding the improvements. A preliminary plan of improvements, cost estimates, and the funding plan can also be reviewed at Sunrise Engineering. Contact Dave Kennington at 307-886-4205.
Based on current cost estimates, the Town of Afton plans to borrow $ 2,047,000 from the Wyoming Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments. The loan's debt service is to be paid by the Town of Afton Water Enterprise Fund. The Town of Afton will increase user fees to repay the loan. The average rate increase is estimated to be ($4/month) per user to repay the loan. Loan terms will be 0.75% interest rate and 20 years.
