Houchin Announces Service Academy Nominations for Indiana’s 9th District Students

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Erin Houchin (IN-09) announced her nominations for students from Indiana's 9th Congressional District to the United States service academies. These nominations recognize outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and a demonstrated commitment to serving the nation.

Students nominated represent schools across the district and were selected through a competitive application and interview process conducted by Congresswoman Houchin's Military Academy Nomination Boards.

"It is an honor to nominate these exceptional students to our nation's service academies," said Congresswoman Houchin. "Service to our country in the Armed Forces is one of the most honorable things a person can do, and each of these young men and women has demonstrated strong character and a commitment to service above self. Indiana's 9th District is proud of them, and I have no doubt they will represent our state and nation with the highest integrity and excellence."

Dale Lyles, retired Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard, who serves as chair of Congresswoman Houchin's Military Academy Nomination Boards, praised the students for their dedication and preparedness.

"The quality of applicants this year was exceptional," said Lyles. "These students impressed the nomination boards with their academic excellence, leadership experience, and genuine desire to serve our country. They represent the very best of Indiana's 9th District."

A congressional nomination is required for appointment to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Final appointment decisions are made by each academy.
