This Halloween season, join Buchanan Center Special Events for a spine-chilling screening of the cult classic 1931 horror film "Frankenstein," featuring a powerful, live orchestral score performed by members of the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra.
"Frankenstein in Film" will take place Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the UW Arts and Sciences Auditorium.
Tickets for this unforgettable fusion of music and cinema are available now at https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/uwyo/6984/event/1437794 or by calling (307) 766-6666 or stopping by the Buchanan Center for Performing Arts box office, between noon and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and one hour before performances. Student tickets are $6, while general public admission tickets are $16.
"More than just a screamfest, director James Whale's masterpiece is a chilling exploration of the tragic intersection of science, ambition and humanity," says Kathy Kirkaldie, UW's fine arts coordinator. "Witness the film that shocked a generation and created the most iconic monster in cinematic history, embodied by the inimitable Boris Karloff."
For this special screening, members of the UW Symphony Orchestra will play a background musical score composed in 2002 by Grammy-nominated artist Michael Shapiro. Shapiro's haunting music adds striking emotional depth and suspense to the legendary tale of Dr. Frankenstein and his wretched creation, creating a unique and immersive experience for modern audiences.
Patrons are encouraged to get into the spirit of the season by coming in costume. Don't miss this one-night-only cinematic experience.
