UW to Celebrate International Education Week Nov. 16-20

The University of Wyoming will celebrate International Education Week (IEW) Monday through Friday, Nov. 16-20.

Every corner of the University of Wyoming has a story to tell about global connection, and IEW is the perfect moment to share -- whether it's a new event designed specifically for the occasion or an activity that reflects the current internationalization work of a college, department, class or club.

IEW is a chance to spotlight the international students and faculty who enrich campus; the students returning from education abroad with new perspectives; and the research connecting UW to the wider world, organizers say.

At UW, IEW is facilitated by the Global Engagement Office. The week is a national initiative celebrated by universities across the U.S. and supported by NAFSA: Association of International Educators. It began as a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education.

IEW has become a campus tradition at UW, with the past years featuring country displays in the Wyoming Union breezeway, the International Student Association's etiquette dinner, study abroad workshops, international research showcases and panel discussions spanning everything from global career paths to international public service. Each year, the week draws participation from across the university -- including the College of Business, College of Law, Honors College, School of Politics, Public Affairs and International Studies, and the Division of Kinesiology -- reflecting just how far UW's global reach extends.

Students, faculty and staff with an event in mind for IEW are strongly encouraged to submit it. This is a campus-wide celebration, and every department's contribution helps make it richer, organizers say. To be included in the official schedule, inform the Global Engagement Office of your participation no later than Friday, Nov. 13.
