Every great park has a story and many of Santa Fe's are being written by dedicated volunteers.
Through the City of Santa Fe's Park Adoption Program, community groups, organizations, businesses, and neighbors are partnering with our Parks Division to help keep local parks beautiful, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
These partnerships showcase the power of community pride, volunteerism, and stewardship while helping preserve the public spaces where families gather, children play, and neighbors connect.
Meet Our Park Adopters
Franklin E. Miles Park
Adopted by the family, friends, and coworkers of General Franklin Miles, led by Katie Miles. This dedicated group is helping beautify one of Santa Fe's premier community parks while working alongside Parks Superintendent Ricardo Espinosa and his crew to preserve the park and help revive its long baseball tradition.
Harvey Cornell Rose Garden Park
Adopted by Santa Fe Rose Society and the Master Gardeners. For more than 50 years, these volunteers have lovingly cared for the park's iconic rose gardens. Their ongoing efforts have helped make this cherished destination a favorite place for weddings, celebrations, lunch breaks, and peaceful walks.
SWAN Park
Adopted by the Housing Trust of Santa Fe. Housing Trust of Santa Fe volunteers have dedicated countless hours to maintaining this popular neighborhood park. Working with Parks Trails Superintendent Lawrence Cordova and his crew, they continue to improve the park, including enhancements around its vibrant community mural.
Galisteo Court Park
Adopted by Parque de Halcones (Park of Hawks). Inspired by the hawks that nest nearby, neighborhood volunteers have worked together to improve this pocket park by repairing grassy areas, cleaning benches, removing weeds, and refreshing ADA parking markings, creating a safer and more welcoming space for everyone.
Herb Martinez Park & Basketball Court
Adopted by SF NM Bike Polo, Geno Sosaya, family, friends, and community volunteers. Recent volunteer improvements include renovating the cement rink fence, repainting the basketball court, and refreshing ADA markings, helping create an inviting place where families, youth, and neighbors can gather and play.
Thomas Macaione Park
Adopted by Rotary Santa Fe Centro. Rotary Santa Fe Centro has completed several meaningful improvements, including installing the "El Diferente" Memorial Plaque, renovating flagstone, adding a Little Free Library, and installing a Peace Pole. Together, these projects make the park an even more welcoming place for the community.
Patrick Smith Park & Water History Park
Adopted by Santa Fe Prep School. Under the leadership of Anders Fristedt, Santa Fe Prep students have become outstanding partners in the City's Adopt-a-Park Program. In addition to caring for Patrick Smith Park and Water History Park, they've volunteered throughout Santa Fe, assisting with projects at City Hall, the Santa Fe Plaza, Thomas Macaione Park, and Fort Marcy Dog Park. Working alongside Parks Project Specialist Jessie Benavidez and the Parks Division, these students continue to demonstrate exceptional community spirit and a commitment to keeping Santa Fe's public spaces beautiful.
Las Acequias Park
Adopted by Luis Guzman, Keis Pressure Washing, and Tierra Encantada Charter School. Luis Guzman and Keis Pressure Washing partnered with Principal Paul Abundez, students, staff, and volunteers from Tierra Encantada Charter School to help care for this beloved Southside neighborhood park. Together, they are preserving a community gathering place known for its walking paths, playgrounds, basketball courts, picnic areas, and colorful tile artwork celebrating Santa Fe's rich cultural heritage.
Nava Ade Park
Maintained by the Friends of Dancing Ground Park & Cactus Garden. The Friends of Dancing Ground Park & Cactus Garden have created a remarkable cactus garden at Nava Ade Park, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the Southwest's native desert plants. Their ongoing care has transformed the garden into a unique community attraction that residents and visitors can enjoy throughout the seasons.
Villa Linda Park
Adopted by the Democratic Party of Santa Fe County. Since February 2022, the Democratic Party of Santa Fe County's Adopt-a-Park group has proudly partnered with the City's Parks Division to help care for Villa Linda Park.
