ASEAN Economic Integration Brief highlights navigating geoeconomic challenges while advancing regional economic integration

JAKARTA, 31 July 2026 - The 19th issue of the ASEAN Economic Integration Brief (AEIB) was released today. The latest edition presents ASEAN's regional economic outlook, highlighting the region's continued resilience amidst heightened geopolitical and geoeconomic uncertainties. This resilience has been underpinned by sustained domestic demand, robust manufacturing activity, resilient exports, and continued investment.

The publication also features an exclusive contribution by Dr. Mari Elka Pangestu, Special Envoy of the President of Indonesia for International Trade and Multilateral Cooperation. In her article, Dr. Pangestu explores how ASEAN can reinforce its longstanding commitment to openness while strengthening regional resilience.

She underscores the importance of enhancing institutional readiness, deepening regional cooperation, and accelerating the implementation of ASEAN's economic priorities to ensure the region remains competitive, adaptive, and responsive to an evolving global landscape.

In addition, the AEIB provides updates on the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) agenda, alongside key economic indicators that reflect the latest developments in the region's economy.

The ASEAN Economic Integration Brief is produced by the ASEAN Integration Monitoring Directorate (AIMD) of the ASEAN Secretariat.
