Springfield Avenue in Rockford closes June 5

ROCKFORD - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that Springfield Avenue in Rockford will be closed between Auburn Street and Safford Road on Friday, June 5. The closure is needed to perform roadway repairs. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the day.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, alternate routes should be considered when feasible. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zone, obey posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
