09/22/2026—Supreme Court Honors Retiring AOC Director Cynthia Clanton

Atlanta, September 22, 2026 - The Supreme Court of Georgia today honored Cynthia Clanton for her decades of service to Georgia's courts, judges, lawyers, and stakeholders, most recently as director of the Judicial Council of Georgia/Administrative Office of the Courts.<_o3a_p>

Counts recently announced that she will retire in October.<_o3a_p>

Chief Justice Nels S.D. Peterson presented Clanton with the Court's Amicus Curiae award at the beginning of today's oral argument session. The Amicus Curiae (Latin for "friend of the court") is one of the most prestigious awards bestowed by the state's highest court on attorneys, judges, and others who have provided exceptional service to Georgia's judiciary and the administration of justice.<_o3a_p>
