Olympia loves trees!
Trees and forests are part of the fabric and identity of our community. They help keep our air and water clean, provide shade on hot summer days, and make our parks and greenspaces inviting for both people and wildlife alike. In fact, Olympia has been a Tree City USA for 30 years!
Each year, the City and its partners host a variety of Arbor Day events to celebrate our forests and join the community in planting new trees for future generations. This year we're combining Arbor Day with National Public Lands Day to celebrate both events in one!
Join us at Squaxin Park, at the Rose Garden Shelter, on Saturday, September 26. The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This year we're excited to include a habitat stewardship work party, from 11 to 1 p.m., where our community will have a hands-on opportunity to help improve the health of the forest by planting understory trees and shrubs.
