An interim provost will be announced soon, followed by details and a timeline of a national search process.

"Jim has accomplished a great deal in his time at George Mason," said President Gregory Washington. "Among his many accomplishments, he led collaborative efforts to develop a new budget model, to strengthen enrollment management, and to advance the implementation of Patriot Connect."

"This unanticipated opportunity to lead the academic enterprise at one of the nation's top private Catholic universities fulfills a calling for me," Provost Antony said. "In the meantime, we have much important work to do together. I look forward to making our remaining months productive and joyful."

"Jim has been a thoughtful partner in all of the university's work and the impact of his work will be long lasting," Washington added.
