Join the Water Law and Policy Initiative for "Wastewater to Wealth," a virtual event held in conjunction with Chicago Water Week, presented by Current, on Friday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to noon.
David Strifling, director of Marquette Law School's Water Law and Policy Initiative and associate professor of law, will discuss two recent research projects with relevance in Chicago and globally.
The projects explore transforming municipal wastewater treatment plants into resource recovery facilities, supporting the transition to a sustainable, circular economy.
The conversation will examine wastewater utilities' potential to generate energy to meet their own electricity needs, as well as the production of nutrient-rich biosolids used as fertilizer that may also contain "forever chemicals," known as PFAS.
The event is free, but registration is required by Thursday, May 7.
