Pardon our dust! Construction is set to start the week of Dec. 8 on several improvements to the northern portion of Kiwanis Park, with an estimated completion in summer/fall 2026.

Park improvements:
  • Total renovation and expansion of the existing playground with all new equipment and accessible rubber surfacing
  • New large group ramada
  • Climbable public art sculpture by artist Bobby Zokaites
  • New shade structures
  • Additional new trees and landscape
  • Irrigation upgrades
  • New restroom and concession building
  • Improved accessible parking and ramps

Construction impacts:
The existing playground, three ramadas near the playground, and the restroom and concession building will be closed. Some sidewalk areas may be closed for short durations.

Temporary Port-o-lets will be provided. The north field, dog park and lake access will not be affected. The splash pad will open for its regular schedule in April.

These renovations are made possible through the Parks Capital Improvement Program, which is investing more than $60 million into Tempe parks over the next five years.
