The newly appointed Ambassador of Switzerland to Armenia presented her credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan

The newly appointed Ambassador of Switzerland to Armenia, Andrea Barbara Baumann, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Congratulating Ambassador Baumann on her appointment, President Khachaturyan emphasized the friendly relations established between Armenia and Switzerland:

"Relations between Armenia and Switzerland are friendly and of special importance for the Republic of Armenia. We have always felt Switzerland's support, which has been aimed at strengthening the establishment of our democratic institutions. Indeed, Switzerland has always stood by us during the most difficult times," said Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The President also highlighted the prospects for developing economic cooperation:
"In recent years, trade turnover between our countries has shown a positive trend, but the existing potential is not being fully utilized. Switzerland is a technologically advanced country, which is of great interest to us. We also have technological potential to present in this field, and we attach great importance to cultural ties as well," said the President of the Republic.

Ambassador Andrea Baumann, in turn, expressed gratitude for the reception and stated:

"You mentioned the deep relations that have already developed between our countries, and I believe they will serve as a very good basis for further deepening those relations in different fields. As You mentioned, the economic and cultural spheres are important, and I am confident that we will be able to share experiences with each other in various areas."

During the meeting, the agenda of multifaceted cooperation between Switzerland and Armenia was discussed. Special attention was paid to close cooperation in the environmental sector, including the ongoing reforestation program implemented with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The effective cooperation of the two countries in international platforms was also emphasized. In this context, the Ambassador underlined the Swiss side's readiness to support, to the fullest extent possible, the organization of the 2026 Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17).

The discussions also focused on Switzerland's support in the process of democratic reforms and the prospects for the further development of bilateral relations.
