New Delhi, 18 May 2026 - The WHO South-East Asia Region invites nominations for 2026 Public Health Champion Award, a recognition for individuals and institutions whose leadership and contributions have led to significant and sustained improvements in public health. The award aims to recognize achievements and leadership that have transformed systems, advanced equity and strengthened resilience across the Region.
The award is open to individuals and institutions whose work has resulted in measurable and lasting public health gains in the Region, preferably tangible contributions aligned with the strategic priorities of the WHO South-East Asia Region.
Individuals - public health professionals, academicians, activists and changemakers - and institutions such as nongovernmental organizations, public sector entities, research institutions and health-care facilities.
Nominees should demonstrate leadership and excellence in one of the following areas:

Nominations must be supported by relevant evidence, including data, reports, publications, or testimonials.
Self-nominations and nominations of WHO staff members will not be considered.
Selection process - A screening committee comprising of senior WHO officials will assess the nominations based on:
Adherence to the Framework of Engagement with non-State Actors (FENSA) will be considered during the selection process.
