Key figures

  • There are 260 automobile assembly, engine/electric motors, and battery production plants in Europe*.
    • 100 produce cars, 42 make buses, 32 build trucks (heavy-duty vehicles), 29 make vans (light commercial vehicles), 61 build engines, and 76 make batteries.
    • 127 of these plants assemble battery-electric vehicles.
  • ACEA members build cars, vans, trucks, buses, and engines in 15 EU member states.

  • Automotive suppliers, many smaller-sized vehicle and engine manufacturers, and custom bodybuilders are not included in this overview.
