National Emergency Coordination Group continues to monitor traffic and travel disruption impacts

The National Emergency Coordination Group (NECG) met again today (Tuesday, 14 April) to review and coordinate the remaining impacts of the disruption caused by the blockades on the transport network and critical national infrastructure. The NECG brings together all relevant Government Departments and State agencies to coordinate the response to emergencies.

The NECG heard that the situation with regards to fuel distribution has improved materially over the past 24-48 hours, supported by Government/Industry coordination and Garda operations. Fuel distribution infrastructure across the State is now operating at or close to normal capacity and doing so with increasing efficiency and stability.

Affected ports are operating at or near normal levels. No significant disruption was reported across the public transport or road networks and the NECG was updated that health and emergency services are operating as normal.

The HSE is assuring patients that all services are continuing and operational. Unless patients hear from the HSE, they can assume their appointment is going ahead.

The NECG will continue to monitor the situation and report to Government.
