Congressman Riley M. Moore Presents Check for $1 Million in Federal Funding to Wood County Development Authority

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Riley M. Moore today presented a $1 million federal funding check to the Wood County Development Authority to support the redevelopment of the former Johns Manville site at Spencer's Landing in Vienna.

Congressman Riley M. Moore released the following statement:

"The city of Vienna has made a tremendous investment in transforming the former Johns Manville site into something that will benefit families and the entire community for generations to come. I'm proud to have secured $1 million in federal funding through my work on the House Appropriations Committee to help bring this vision at Spencer's Landing to life. This project is a great example of what we can accomplish when we invest in West Virginia communities and put federal resources to work where they matter most."

The 33-acre site was purchased by the City of Vienna in 2014-2015 to protect the community and clean up the former industrial property. The redevelopment project will transform the site into a multi-use community destination featuring an ADA-accessible playground, walking paths, restrooms, food truck hookups, shelters, and other amenities. The City of Vienna has invested millions of dollars in acquiring and remediating the property.

Congressman Moore secured the $1 million in federal funding through this work on the House Appropriations Committee.
